Fat isn’t a bad word. Women come in all shapes & sizes. To think otherwise is outdated. It’s an old statement to believe discussions of teenage anxiety & disections of age-old beauty standards is something taboo.

Of course, an uncomfortable tension still exists both in the real world & my paintings when acknowledging women’s bodies. There will always be nay-sayers & those with fear in their hearts over the sensuality & autonomy of the female form. They’ll call us whores whether we embrace the WAP & swivel our hips, or when we wield our brushes like I do with thick layers of color & fluid-lines giving weight to the magnificent heftiness--the power--of women.
